The recipe in 15 seconds

Method

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 2 minutes. Pat the shrimp very dry with paper towels.

  2. Toss the shrimp with the olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and lemon zest.

  3. Spread the shrimp in a single layer; don’t crowd the basket. Air fry at 400°F for 5 to 7 minutes, shaking the basket halfway, until the shrimp are pink, opaque and curled into a loose C.

  4. Squeeze a lemon wedge over the top, scatter with parsley and serve right away.

Tips

  • Air fryers vary: oven-style models and smaller baskets may need 2 to 3 minutes more. Check early the first time. Jumbo shrimp may need 1 to 2 minutes more.
  • Using frozen shrimp? Thaw them in a bowl of cold water for 5 to 10 minutes, then dry well so they brown instead of steam.
  • Toss the cooked shrimp with 1 tbsp melted butter for garlic butter shrimp, or serve with cocktail sauce. Reheat leftovers at 350°F for 2 minutes.
