The recipe in 15 seconds

Method

  1. Melt the butter in the microwave, about 20 seconds.

  2. Whisk the mayonnaise, tomato paste, melted butter, sugar, paprika, garlic powder and vinegar until smooth and pale pink.

  3. Whisk in the water a tablespoon at a time until it is pourable. Chill for 30 minutes if you can, then serve with fried rice, shrimp, chicken or steak.

Tips

  • Japanese-style mayonnaise makes it richer, but regular mayo works well.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne if you like a little heat.
  • Keeps for up to 1 week in the fridge in a squeeze bottle.
